The Week of November 16th

This week in Seventh Grade Math…
**We are starting fresh this week with Accelerated Math for trimester 2. Students should have 2 objectives mastered. If they do not, they need to work outside of class so that they don’t get behind later!

Red and White: This week we are finishing up our fractions chapter with dividing fractions. We will be having our “big” fractions test on Friday, so we don’t have to worry about it after Thanksgiving break. We will be reviewing all week in class.

Blue: Tuesday we will be reviewing for our fractions test that is on Wednesday. After that we will start our Geometry Chapter.

This week in Eighth Grade Math…
**We are starting fresh this week with Accelerated Math for trimester 2. Students should have 2 objectives mastered. If they do not, they need to work outside of class so that they don’t get behind later!

Blue: This week we will continue working on integers in chapter 2. Thursday we will have a quiz on order of operations with integers.

White: Tuesday we are having our Chapter 2 test on integers. Wednesday we will start Chapter 3 in our textbooks.

This week in Seventh Grade Math…
**The end of the trimester is this Friday the 13th! Students should have 18 objectives completed in Accelerated Math.

Red and White: This week we will be reviewing adding/subtracting fractions and mixed numbers for our quiz that will be on Thursday. We will also begin multiplying fractions, and, if time allows, dividing. We will have a quiz on multiplying and dividing sometime next week.

Blue: Tuesday we are having a quiz on adding/subtracting fractions and mixed numbers. The remainder of the week will be spent reviewing multiplication and beginning dividing fraction and mixed numbers. Our fractions test is tentatively scheduled for next Tuesday.

This week in Eighth Grade Math…
**The end of the trimester is this Friday the 13th! Students should have 18 objectives completed in Accelerated Math.

Blue: This week we will continue practicing operations with integers. We will have a timed-integer operation test on Friday. We will also begin order of operations this week. If time allows, we will begin the coordinate plane.

White: This week we will finish up chapter 2 with scientific notation. Our Chapter 2 test is tentatively scheduled for Friday.

This week in Seventh Grade Math…
**This week students should have 14 objectives mastered in Accelerated Math. There are only two more Mondays left for Accelerated Math. If your child is behind please make sure they are working outside of class.

White and Red: This week we are working on converting between fractions and decimals. Friday we are having a quiz on the first half of our fractions chapter. The study guide should be in your child’s notebook.

Blue: Wednesday we will have a quiz on the first half of our fractions chapter. This week we will also begin operations with fractions.

This week in Eighth Grade Math…
**This week students should have 14 objectives mastered in Accelerated Math. There are only two more Mondays left for Accelerated Math. If your child is behind please make sure they are working outside of class.

Blue: This week we will be reviewing for our chapter 6 test on percents. Our test is on Thursday. The study guide should be in your child’s notebook. Friday we will start our chapter on integers.

This week in Seventh Grade Math…
**This week students should have 12 objectives mastered in Accelerated Math. There are only 3 Accelerated Math days left this trimester after this week. If your child is behind or looking for extra credit, please encourage them to begin working outside of class on whatever is in their folder!

White and Red: We will continue to review GCF and LCM. We will also begin equivalent fractions, lowest terms, comparing/ordering fractions, and, hopefully, converting between fractions and decimals. We will have a quiz on the first half of the chapter at the end of next week.

Blue: This week we will finish the first half of the chapter with comparing/ordering decimals and converting between fractions and decimals. Depending on student comprehension, we MAY have a quiz on the first half of the chapter on Friday. Students will be notified during the week.

This week in Eighth Grade Math…
**This week students should have 12 objectives mastered in Accelerated Math. There are only 3 Accelerated Math days left this trimester after this week. If your child is behind or looking for extra credit, please encourage them to begin working outside of class on whatever is in their folder!

White: Tuesday we will be reviewing for our chapter 6 test which is on Thursday. Friday we will start our chapter on integers.

This week in Seventh Grade Math…
**Due to Monday’s holiday, we will not have Accelerated Math this week. Last week students were to have 10 objectives mastered thus far. Please encourage your child to work at home if they are behind. ONLY FOUR ACCELERATED MATH DAYS LEFT!!

Red and White: This week we will begin our fractions chapter. We will be working on: divisibility, prime factorization, GCF, and LCM. If time allows, we will begin equivalent fractions and lowest terms.

Blue: This week we will continue our fractions chapter with: GCF, LCM, equivalent fractions and lowest terms. If time allows, we will begin converting between fractions and decimals. We will possibly have a quiz at the end of next week.

**Just a reminder that progress reports go home today.
Here a few symbols that may appear on your child’s progress report for Math: “X”..means that your child was excused from this assignment, and it was not counted for or against them; “NC”…means that your child did not receive credit for this assignment (a zero) because it was not turned in; “**”…means that assignment has not yet been entered into my gradebook or I’m waiting for your child to turn it in due to absence.
No student’s participation grade has been entered in yet. That will be put in at the end of the trimester.

White and Red: This week we are finishing our decimal chapter. Monday we will be working on exponents, powers of ten, and scientific notation. Our decimal test is on Thursday. Students should have the study guide in their notebook.
Blue: Monday we will be finishing exponents, powers of ten, and scientific notation. Tuesday we are reviewing for our decimal test which will be on Wednesday. Our fractions chapter is next.

Blue: This week we will continue working on percents. We will be solving percent problems and estimating percents. We MAY have a quiz at the end of the week.

This week in Seventh Grade Math…
**This week in Accelerated Math students should have at least 8 objectives mastered. Please encourage your child to work outside of class to catch up if needed.

White and Red: This week we will continue, and finish, our work on dividing decimals. We will also continue practice the other decimal operations. Our decimal operation quiz will be on Friday.
Blue: This week we will finish/review dividing decimals. We will have our decimal operation quiz on Thursday. We will be finishing the decimal chapter on Friday. Our decimal test will be next week.

Blue: Tuesday we will be reviewing for our Chapter 5 test that was moved to this Wednesday. Thursday we will start our percents chapter.
White: This week we will begin working on percents. Most of this chapter should be a review from last year, so we should hopefully move through it rather quickly.

All Groups: Tuesday we are having our first quiz on decimals. The quiz study guide should be in your child’s notebook. This week we will also be working on all decimal operations. Dividing decimals is tough, so please encourage your child to get extra help/practice if necessary.

This week in Seventh Grade Math…
**This week all students should have 4 objectives mastered in Accelerated Math. Please encourage your child to work at home if they are behind.

All Groups: This week we are beginning our chapter on decimals. We will begin with place value, ordering decimals, estimating and rounding. If time allows, we will begin addding and subtracting decimals. Students will receive a handout Tuesday with the decimal place value chart that will have to be memorized for their next quiz (TBD).

This week in Eighth Grade Math…

Blue: This week we will continue working on Chapter 5. We will be reviewing equal ratios and proportions. We will also begin using unit rates and formulas to solve problems.
White: This week we will review how to solve proportions. We will also begin using unit rates and formulas to solve problems.
If time allows, we will begin using proportions to solve scale problems. Our Chapter 5 test will be at the end of next week.
